Uplifting Yemen’s Sheroes
Of the 4.5 million people left homeless in Yemen, 80% are women and children, with over a quarter of displaced Yemeni households headed by women. Meanwhile, only 6% of women in Yemen are employed, meaning millions of Yemeni women and children are going without a stable income. Basic necessities, such as food, medicine and educational supplies are therefore going unmet.
Uplifting Yemen’s Sheroes (the women who heroically head their households) empowers Yemeni women by giving them the tools that they need to start their own local businesses. By giving them incoming-generating tools such as sewing machines and equipment, or fronting the cost of rent for a convenience store, they are able to begin their own enterprises and provide for them and their families. Setting up future generations for success.

As a result of the civil war in Yemen, many families have lost their breadwinners. Unemployment and the failure of the state to pay civil servants, teachers, and healthcare workers have resulted in a major impact on the livelihood of citizens.

Eman's Story of Strength and Hope
Sheroes like Eman, a mother of six children, three of which have tragically passed away. Iman’s children and husband all suffer from debilitating illness, meaning she’s the only one in her family able to work.
Join us in celebrating Yemen’s unsung Batalas this Mother’s Day. All of the money raised from our Uplifting Yemen’s Sheroes campaign will empower women like Eman by giving her the income-generating tools needed to make her own living, to build a better tomorrow for her and her family.
