At HRD, we believe that everyone deserves dignity, regardless of their background or current living circumstances. This includes those without permanent housing and newcomers to the United States. We recognize that everyone faces hardships and that a helping hand is sometimes needed. This belief is at the heart of Mercy Food Truck.

Mercy Food Truck Donation
Nourishing NYC’s Underserved Communities
Mercy Food Truck partners with local food suppliers and restaurants to deliver warm, nutritious, and halal meals to underserved communities in New York City. This includes individuals experiencing hunger, homelessness, and migrants living in shelters. By collaborating with masjids and community members, we identify the best locations across the five boroughs to reach those most in need.

Launched in January 2024, Mercy Food Truck is HRD’s first program serving people in the U.S.
Each meal consists of chicken or other meat, rice, and vegetables. The chicken is generously donated by a private donor, while the rice and vegetables are provided by Kababjees in Long Island. When the donor is unable to supply the chicken, Kababjees steps in to provide the meat as well. Thanks to these donations, each meal costs only $4 to prepare.
